Getting started
Everything you need to know to get your household running.
① create a household
A household is your shared space. Everyone who lives together joins the same one.
- Go to My Households and click Create a household
- Give it a name (e.g. "Flat 4B" or "The House")
- Pick a nickname for yourself in this household
- You're in — you'll see your 6-character invite code on the household page
② invite your housemates
Share your invite code with anyone who lives with you. They'll need to create an account first.
- Find your invite code on the household dashboard (top of the page)
- Share it with your housemates — by message, sticky note, whatever works
- They go to My Households → Join a household and enter the code
- They pick a nickname and they're in
Invite codes don't expire, but you can see who's joined from the household settings.
③ add chores
Each chore has a name, a frequency, and a rotation — who does it and in what order.
- From the household dashboard, click Add a chore
- Give it a name, pick an icon and colour
- Set the frequency — daily, weekly, monthly, or a custom number of days
- Set the due date for the first time it needs doing
- Add people to the rotation — drag to reorder who goes first
- Optionally assign it to a room or add tags to keep things organised
④ mark chores done
When you've done a chore, tick it off. The wabit hops it along to the next person and recalculates the due date automatically.
- Find the chore on the household dashboard
- Click the ✓ Done button
- It moves to the next person in the rotation and the due date resets
Anyone in the household can mark any chore as done — not just the person whose turn it is.
⑤ areas, rooms & tags
Keep things tidy by organising chores into rooms and tagging them.
Areas & Rooms — group rooms into areas (e.g. "Upstairs" contains "Bathroom" and "Landing"). Assign chores to a room so you can filter by location.
Tags — freeform labels like "quick", "weekly", or "shared". Add as many as you like to a chore and filter by them on the dashboard.
Manage areas, rooms, and tags from Household Settings.
⑥ your account
Display name & nicknames — change your name from the account page. You can also set a different nickname per household.
Leaving a household — go to the household settings and click Leave household. Your chore history is preserved for the remaining members.
Deleting your account — go to the account page, scroll to the Danger Zone, and follow the steps. All your personal data is permanently removed.
